The Problem: The latest state and federal data shows that 2 out of 3 California students did not meet state math standards. In math, 60% tested below grade level. Here is the problem we are looking to solve: How to improve students’ math performance and get more kids at grade level through acceleration rather than remediation.
Session Description In this session participants will discuss utilizing an approach to teaching ALL students math content that is making a difference in student achievement despite the continued impact from the pandemic. With an innovative ‘Try-Discuss-Connect’ framework, and linguistically responsive resources math class becomes the perfect place for multilingual learners to develop academic language while building content knowledge and accessing grade-level material.
Questions for Feedback What instructional resources are making the largest impact for EL students? How to scale effective differentiated instruction for acceleration vs remediation? What data resources are the most comprehensible to drive instruction?
