Dr. Jeanette Chien is the deputy superintendent of Learning and Leadership Services at the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE). She is committed to providing students with rigorous learning opportunities, ensuring equity and access for underrepresented students, and positively impacting school communities through systems of support.

Jeanette joined SDCOE with more than 26 years of experience in education, serving as a teacher, school administrator, director, and assistant superintendent. Most recently, she oversaw the Educational Services branch at the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) as the chief academic officer.
Before joining SCCOE, Jeanette served as assistant superintendent of Educational Services for the Chino Valley Unified School District, where she led the development of the district's LCAP, coordinated the transition of a K-8 school to a year-round calendar, implemented multi-tiered system of supports, and addressed suspensions and expulsion rates.

She also held administrative positions with both the Rowland Unified School District and Los Angeles Unified School District for more than 13 years. Before moving into administration, Jeanette served as a bilingual elementary teacher and lead GATE teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She has served as an adjunct professor in Educational Leadership for both Pepperdine University and the University of Southern California.

Jeanette earned her doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California, her master’s from CSU Los Angeles, and her bachelor’s in psychology from UCLA.
